Opposition leader Raila Odinga has urged NASA supporters to turn out in large numbers in presidential repeat polls to ‘save’ Chief Justice David Maraga and three other Supreme Court judges.
A furious President Uhuru Kenyatta has reiterated his plans to ‘teach’ the four judges who nullified his victory a lesson should he are reelected.
With Jubilee party also keen to significantly reduce powers of the Chief Justice, Odinga says the situation can only be dealt with if Kenyans vote in large numbers.
“You heard him saying that he will deal with Supreme Court judges. Just before he does that, I urge you to turn up in large numbers and send him home.
“This is a country of rules and if he cannot respect the court ruling, time has come for us to send him home and save judges who did justice by nullifying his victory,” he said at rally in Busia on Sunday.
In a move targeting reducing of Chief Justice’s powers, Jubilee MPs have come up with a legislation that if passed, would see any judge swearing in a president.
Among those in Uhuru’s blacklist other than Maraga include Philomena Mwilu, Isaac Lenaola and Smokin Wanjala.
