The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party has reportedly opted to employ consensus to avert violence and fallout during the ongoing party primaries.
Speaking on Tuesday at Orange House, ODM acting Secretary General Senator Agnes Zani announced that the decision seeks to strengthen and unite the party ahead of the August polls.
“All [aspirants] are our members and we are talking so that we can have a solution to move forward as a strong team even after the primaries,” she said.
“We are very democratic and in future, we should have primaries a year before elections to popularises the candidate and ensure the process remains free and fair,” she added.
She further maintained that the party is committed to conducting free, fair and transparent primaries in the remaining counties that include: Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay among others.
“Auditing the data and talking to the aspirants remain our two valuable options. That means we will not give any results unless we have the final results,” she noted.
