Although there was a heavy presence of police in the area, residents of Kibera went out to the streets to celebrate the Supreme Court rulling that nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta's win in the general elections.

Residents emerged holding placards and posters of NASA leader Raila Odinga with a message of justice.

"For the first time we have seen justice in Kenya," said a placard.Unlike in the past, police did not shoot any bullet and allowed the residents to carry on with their celebrations.

Areas like Ayany, Kamkunji, Makina and Olympic came to a standstill as people flocked the roads singing the NASA tag phrases of ‘Tibim’ and ‘Tialala’.

"Maraga Tibim. Justice at long last. God bless us," read another placard.

Interestingly, the chanting masses heeded to police request at Olympic when they were asked not to head to the city centre.

"If anything happens to my windscreen that has to be Sh15,000. If it is the emergency exit window then it is Sh9,000. You can see there are few matatus operating but I am surprised that there is no violence," said car owner Emmanuel Kiragu in the midst of the all-peaceful masses.
