A reliable source has revealed that a plot has been hatched to bar Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi alias Sonko from vying for the gubernatorial seat on a Jubilee ticket.

Reports say that a group of MPs allied to former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth are the masterminds of the plot.

The pro-Kenneth MPs are planning to stop Sonko's ambitions on claims that the Senator did not sit for his secondary education and has a lot of pending cases in court, thus making him illegible to vie.

The source who spoke on condition of anonymity said Kiharu MP Irungu Kang'ata is the man at the epicenter of the plot and is working under the instruction of Peter Kenneth.

Kang'ata also seeks to persuade Jubilee Party's National Election Board to bar Sonko because of the same claims - his questionable high school academic papers.

Kenneth is set to face Sonko in Jubilee nominations as they both bid to succeed Governor Eban Kidero.

The senator has been fighting legal battles concerning authenticity of his academic papers.

In 2013, he was cleared to vie for Nairobi senatorial seat after it was confirmed that he cleared his secondary education at Kwale High School.

He also possesses a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the Kenya Methodist University (KEMU).
