[Photo|PSCU]A week after National Super Alliance (Nasa) principals warmly welcomed immediate Meru County Governor Peter Munya, who had withdrawn his support for President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party, everything has changed.Munya is back to Jubilee once again, kicking out Nasa, despite his pledge to ensure its leader, Raila Odinga, receives wider support in the Mt Kenya region county."In yet another affirming indication that we are well on our way to Canaan, our ranks were bolstered by former Meru Governor Peter Munya leading members of the PNU party into the NASA fraternity.""The renewed enthusiasm for our coalition, which we are experiencing throughout the country, is very encouraging," Raila said September 4, after he received the PNU party leader.
On Tuesday September 12, Munya flanked by various PNU leaders visited President Kenyatta at State House, where he pledged his support for his re-election during the October 17 fresh presidential election.Raila's alliance seem to be hard-hit especially after CCM party leader Isaac Ruto, exited to support Kenyatta's Jubilee.Ruto who had pledged his unwavering support for Nasa, after cutting ties with Deputy President William Ruto, and Uhuru, during formation of Jubilee Party, went back, after failing to retain his Bomet gubernatorial seat, in the August 8 polls. Is it time for Nasa to stop trusting everyone who comes up to be part of its leadership?Ruto was the fifth principal, after Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula.Munya would be the sixth principal, since he had joined, before Ruto left to Jubilee.
Immediately after his welcoming, there was protest from a section of Nasa leaders, especially ODM's Aisha Jumwa (Malindi MP), who said Munya had brought nothing to the coalition.Jumwa warned the four main Nasa principals against welcoming anyone to the coalition, saying they would end up betraying them. However, Raila had welcomed anyone, to the coalition."We extend open arms to all like-minded Kenyans who wish to join Nasa as we continue resolutely in our efforts to liberate our beloved Nation. The journey to Canaan continues," Odinga said, September 4.
