Since its formation, the NASA coalition has strongly opposed President Uhuru Kenyatta. The four principals came up to challenge his every move. This tension between NASA and Jubilee escalated more when they challenged his August 8th victory as President elect that led to the nullification of his victory.
When President Uhuru was busy campaigning and preparing for the October 26th elections, the NASA team surprised him by pulling out of the race yet they were the main competition. After his victory and the court upholding it, they boycotted his swearing n ceremony, declared him illegitimate and went ahead to organize for the swearing in of Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as the people's president.
Even after swearing in of Raila Odinga, they emerged fresh calls for another election in August 2018. President Uhuru thought it was time to make a move and surely it turned out to be the magical one.
The meeting President Uhuru Kenyatta had with Raila was crumbled NASA in less than a week. Immediately after the meeting Mudavadi came out to complain about co-principals not being involved which led to a crisis meeting at Athi River. Then Kalonzo and Wetangula started to seek a meeting with the president.
The Wiper MPs started to demand ODM MPs to relinquish their seats in parliament since they have joined Jubilee. Then finally ODM senators moving to replace Wetangula as the senate minority leader which made him to declare, "Am going nowhere. There is no way am leaving NASA. I was not invited to NASA but instead am the founder of NASA. If anyone wants a divorce, it will be messy, it will be unhelpful and it will have casualties."
