NASA leader Raila Odinga arrived at the Jacaranda Grounds on Tuesday afternoon amid tight security.

Police have been manning the venue to keep off NASA supporters. According to Nairobi police chief Japheth Koome, the NASA had not given permission to use the grounds.

Earlier, police engaged NASA supporters in running battles with tear gas and gunshots rocking the area.

Two people are said to have been shot during the fracas.

NASA leaders had planned to conduct a parallel rally to President Uhuru Kenyatta inauguration at Safaricom Sports Center Kasarani Stadium.
