Raila was welcomed by a mammoth crowd which had gone to listen to what their political patron had to say.

However, what baffles many is how a leader with such a following fails to win an election.

For quite a while, Raila Odinga was been favoured by opinion polls where he has been the favourite candidate compared to main competitors.

In practicality, elections have however been a disappointment to the former Prime Minister.

In 2007, he was pitched to be the next president after attracting mammoth crowds in his rallies. However, former president Mwai Kibaki carried the day and retained his position after clinching the 2002 presidential elections.

In Migori County, the Cord leader used the occasion to attack the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) again.

If Cord leader ever wishes to win the presidency, then he should be sensitising his mammoth crowd to register as voters.

For a long time, the turnout of voters in his strongholds has been low as compared to the regions possessed by his main competitors.

In 2013, the Mount Kenya and Rift Valley regions had over 90% voter registration and turnout as compared to Cord leader Raila Odinga's Nyanza, Western and Coastal regions.

If Raila has plans of winning the 2017 general election and become the fifth president of the country, he should change tact and stop blaming his failures on unwarranted excuses that will not win him anything.

He should concentrate his energy on sensitising his supporters to register as voters.

This may improve his chances of winning the 2017 elections. If not, he should forget the presidency since Jubilee party is educating their supporters on the need to register as voters as they want to win the 2017 elections again.
