Details have emerged how NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga managed to contain Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo.
On June 25, the ODM leader had a huge rally in Siaya town where he endorsed ODM candidates.
Here, he embraced the Gem MP and promised to negotiate with him to abandon his bid.
Raila said Midiwo will be given a good job if NASA makes the next government of Kenya.
Since then, the Gem MP has not been seen in public campaigning with independent candidates like it was before.
Midiwo, Rarieda’s Nicholas Gumbo, as well as nominated MP Oburu Oginga did not manage to secure the ODM ticket.
Oburu was defeated by Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda and word has it that he conceded defeat after in-house consultations.
Midiwo was also handed a big defeat by Elisha Odhiambo the MP primaries.
In the governor's race, Gumbo failed to secure the party's ticket after losing to incumbent Cornel Rasanga.
But Midiwo and Gumbo were quick to accuse the party of rigging them out.
Shortly after the nominations, those who decided to go as independent candidates managed to win the support of locals who were seen to be sympathising with them.
