Kisumu has been cited as one of the counties that has showcased the potential of counties as the next centre of industrialization and job creation.
While addressing delegates at the 5th Annual Devolution Conference in Kakamega, former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga highlighted the relocation of the 35 year-old old Kachok dumpsite by Governor Peter Nyong’o to underscore devolution's capacity to stop the much of environmental degradation in the countryside.
Relocation of the Kachok dumpsite was one of Nyong'o's ten point agenda.
Odinga addressed delegates on Wednesday where he decried alarming corruption cases in county governments.
In his 5th Devolution Conference opening speech on Tuesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta asked governors to start the transformation by first focusing on healthcare as one of the areas that troubles Kenyans the most.
Kisumu is one of the pilot counties that had been selected to roll out universal healthcare.
