One of the sectors that have been affected is the higher education sector due to the prolonged lecturers strike that has affected learning in public universities for more than a month.

The strike affects the students as most of them are now spending a lot of money to buy food and pay rent yet they are not learning.

Most of them have been forced to spend more years in the institution contrary to the curriculum, for example, it takes six years to finish a four-year course.

Other students are indulging in immoral activities such as smoking, drinking alcohol and unprotected sexual affairs.

When the opposition was opposition, issues of prolonged strikes were highly opposed putting the government on toes to pay the striking workers and implement the lecturers CBA.

Bondo Member of Parliament Gideon Ochanda had said that with the pact between Uhuru and Raila, there is no party left to hold the government to account.

It is very clear that even though the handshake led to political stability, there is no vibrant opposition to keep the government on toes and solve this issue of striking lecturers.
