The recent scandal which has seen several suspects remain behind bars including NYS director Richard Ndubai and Youth PS Lillian Mbogo-Omollo is said to have been unmasked by private investigators hired by aggrieved suppliers.

According to sources who spoke to a local paper, the private investigator who has fled the country, mined crucial information over the NYS scandal last year.

At the time, opposition leader Raila Odinga was still at loggerheads with the Jubilee government after he refused to recognize President Uhuru Kenyatta’s win.

Government insiders went into a panic mood that if Raila was to land on the sensitive document laying bare the theft of public money at NYS, he would ‘finish the government’.

Government strategists feared the vocal opposition leader would get impetus to drive his anti-government outbursts.

It is interesting that the scandal which has roped in several people only came to the limelight in May 2018 when in actual sense, things at NYS became thick last year.

Raila Odinga has since made peace with Kenyatta after the March 9 handshake.Raila has not made any strong remarks over the NYS theft since it blew off.

This is unlike the firm position he took during the first scandal at the entity during CS Ann Waiguru’s tenure.
