NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga will betray his fellow principals in the coalition if he wins the August 8 election, a political analyst has predicted. Political scientist Mutahi Ngunyi, who correctly predicted the outcome of the 2013 presidential contest, says that Raila will go against his agreement will fellow NASA principals, which bars him from running for president in 2022. According to the agreement, which has been deposited at the Registrar of Political Parties, Raila will only be a one-term president if he defeats President Kenyatta in this year’s contest. In the deal, the former prime minister agreed to support ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi, his running mate Kalonzo, Senate minority leader Moses Wetangula or Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto for the top job in 2022. But Mr Ngunyi says Raila is likely to change his mind should he win in August. “For starters, the one-term presidency is a lie,” Ngunyi says in a weekly YouTube video. “Raila will run for a second term. You can take that to the bank.”The political scientist and his team of analysts, who say they are based at the Fort Hall School of Government, say Mr Odinga will not offer the premier positions the NASA pact promised Mudavadi, Wetangula and Rutto. “There will be no constitutional change, in my view. Instead Raila will betray the Pentagon (fellow NASA principals), because if he did it when he was prime minister, he will be even more cruel if we make him president,” Ngunyi argues. The analysts say that President Kenyatta’s development record speaks for itself, but want him to ‘’come down’ to the level of candidate and engage Raila in his own game. Mr Ngunyi at one point reveals he supports the re-election of President Kenyatta in August.
