The National Super Alliance (NASA) risks flopping at ousting President Uhuru Kenyatta of Jubilee Party in the forthcoming August polls, Amani National Congress (ANC) has warned.
According to Godfrey Osotsi, ANC Secretary General, internal competition among parties forming the opposition alliance, could affect the presidential vote for flagbearer Raila Odinga if mishandled.
He said greed by Raila's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to grab all elective posts even in areas where affiliate parties command a huge support base, would result to bad blood in the coalition.
"NASA is not an ODM affair but five equal partners, and that must be respected to win the presidency in August. If we are not ready to respect this, let’s not cheat ourselves that we can win the presidency,” Osotsi warned.
He argued that ODM, after being handed the presidential ticket, should withdraw its candidates in Western Kenya in favour of Musalia Mudavadi's ANC or Moses Wetang'ula,s Ford Kenya.
Osotsi called on the five NASA co-principals to address the simmering rivalry in the camp, or else, each party be allowed to work independently.
“I wish to urge our principals to address this matter because it can create more harm than good to NASA. We want urgent dialogue between organs of all the five parties. NASA must operate through mutual consultation among partners and inclusivity so that we can overcome the problem of sibling rivalry within NASA,” he said as quoted by the Star.
The Opposition alliance brings together Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Moses Wetang'ula (Ford-Kenya) and Chama Cha Mashinani's Isaac Ruto.
