Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has defended NASA’s push to have Raila Odinga sworn-in as the people’s president.
He argues that Raila’s swearing-in is overdue, stating that no one is going to stop the oath.
Speaking to journalists in Mombasa Town after bailing out some patients at the Coast General Hospital on Tuesday, the ODM deputy party leader said that Raila has been winning the presidential election since 2007 but denied the opportunity to lead by orchestrators of electoral fraud.
Joho said that Raila is not going to accept and move on as being told to by some people. He stated that the country will never recover from electoral impunity if Raila keeps silent and accepts to move as being told. The ODM Deputy Party leader revealed that Raila’s push to be sworn in is for the interest of the country which he says it at the mercy of impunity and fraud.“Raila Odinga has every right to be sworn-in as the people’s president because he won the August 8 presidential election and no one is going to stop us from administering the oath to him,” he said.Joho claimed that the country is bleeding from electoral injustice and fraud. He said that majority of Kenyans have given up and are yearning for liberation. The Mombasa county boss indicated that Raila’s oath will bring back the hope that has been diminished by Jubilee administration. He added that there will be transparency, integrity and accountability in the country’s public institutions once Raila takes the oath.He urged NASA supporters to remain calm, assuring them that Raila will be sworn-in.Joho asked President Kenyatta’s government to prepare for Raila’s oath, stating that he (Uhuru) might have the military and the money but he cannot fight against Raila who has the power of the people behind him.NASA has maintained that Raila’s swearing-in will be conducted early next year even as the government termed he planned coronation illegal and treasonous whose punishment is death.Raila has laughed off the warning saying that he is not afraid of dying and that he would rather die and allow Jubilee government to perpetuate injustice and electoral fraud.
