In a report published on 3rd June 2016 by www.nairobiwire.com, Kenyan rapper Abbas Kubaff also known as Dubeez announced that he was leaving Kenya for good. He had organized a farewell party at Nyayo Embakasi estate where he made the announcement to a group of close friends and families.
The report further says that the rapper had decided to relocate to Malta Island together with his British girlfriend and daughter.Many Kenyan hip hop lovers who heard about Rapper Abbas Kubaff’s plan to leave Kenya for good did not take him seriously. Many thought that he was just joking but now it is almost two years since he left and his fans are getting worried. It is dawning on them that he is gone for good.
Rapper Abbas Kubaff was one of the best hip-hop artists in Kenya. Christened K-South finest, he managed to stay ahead of his rap game. He was a bad boy lyricist. Together with rapper Bamboo, they formed the K-South rap duo. They produced hits like “Tabia Mbaya,” “Kapuka Diss” and “Twapenda zote.”
Apart from Bamboo, he also collaborated with many other Kenyan artists such as Chiwawa, Nazizi and Kitusewer to produce club-banging hits.
He became so famous and sort after when he went solo. He proved his lyrical prowess when he produced some of the best rap music in Kenya. Hits such as “Mo Fire,” “Shotz,” “Bounce,” “Get down,” “Street life,” and “A milli” are still celebrated up to date.
As hip-hop lovers, we never imagined Kenyan hip-hop progressing without the input of Abbas Kubaff. We enjoyed his freestyle rap and rap battles. Standing more than two meters tall, Abass was a giant in the rap music scene. He broke the hearts of tens of thousands of his fans and up to date, his absence is still felt.
