Deputy President will have a series of meetings with Central Kenya MPs, a request by the same lawmakers on matters to do with developments in their counties.
He started with Nyeri county and today he held another with Kiambu county MPs. He will be having a series of meetings with MPs from other counties from Central Kenya as well in the course of this week.
The procedure is to have a consultative meeting first then launching of development projects over the weekends.This is a wake-up call to the members of parliament from Rift valley. We need such meetings with the executive, remember your main role is to represent the constituents in matters related to governance.
It's sad when we see the likes of Cherengany MP Joshua Kutuny or his Nandi Hills counterpart Mr Alfred Keter on the forefront exercising divisive politics and especially on public gallery yet they can visit the Deputy President and air their grievances and issues affecting their people.
Kalenjin nation must understand that Ruto is the Deputy President and does not represent them in the executive. He is the Deputy to the President who is interested in achieving a different agenda, that of the big four agenda as his legacy.
He may or may not have enough power to influence the decision made by the executive but the members of parliament must act as one and have their influence felt during the decision making, otherwise, we will all be complaining and waiting for manna that might never come.
