The enmity is likely to be emanating from their Presidential ambitions, with their latest collision resulting from Ruto's futile attempt to meet Gideon's father and former President Daniel Moi at his Kabarak home, with Gideon now carrying the blame heaped on him by Ruto's allies.

The deputy head of state, being a highly placed citizen who is seeking a ticket to the statehouse, must prove his leadership qualities by calming the situation between the two of them, and must begin by downplaying their enmity.

Moi's popularity has been boosted by earlier attacks from the DP and recent ones from his allies. Tame this, Ruto has to avoid confronting or provoking him and ensure that his handlers follow suit and consequently, their rivalry will find itself behind the cameras, leading to its end.

The DP should also extend a hand of friendship to the lawmaker in a bid to end the enmity. This will land the two on the same side, tying their hands and resulting to peace as Ruto carries on with his national leadership responsibilities.

By making another successful attempt to meet President Moi, he will have further promoted peace as his allies will have no reason to once again go for Gideon whom they have accused of blocking the initial attempt.

This too will grant him ample time to proceed with his executive roles while preparing for his candidature in the approaching presidential race.
