His troubles began with the March 9 truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga, a deal the DP's allies are now claiming is a plot to sabotage his bid.

The other one is the heating referendum push which his quarters have termed a plan to force him out of the race or render him powerless should he vie and win the presidency.

Also in the list is the Baringo Senator Gideon Moi a headache, with his handlers alleging that the lawmaker is working in collaboration with a section of the opposition leadership to make the race tougher for him.

To overcome these troubles, Ruto should give no attention to the truce and instead concentrate on mobilizing grassroots support as with the people on his side, no leader or group of leaders can prevent his win.

He should as well advise his allies against spending too much effort and time on the referendum issue and instead concentrate on development as his success also depends on their score sheets.

Referendum or no referendum, Ruto will be able to win, provided that he has the numbers on his side and should not care what new position will be created but go for the one which he feels will enable him to serve Kenyans the way he wants to.

He should not pay any attention to Gideon Moi as he remains the most popular leader in the vote-rich Rift Valley region, as compared to the Senator who is yet to fully establish himself.
