Sam wa Ukweli who died on Wednesday night at Palestina Hospital in Dar es Salaam, was a loved bongo superstar. But what many didn't know is that Sam wa Ukweli believed that he accidentally killed his younger brother.
In an interview with a popular Tanzania radio station clouds FM back in 2013, Sam wa Ukweli left listeners in tears after telling them his history when he was growing up.
Speaking with Dina, who was the radio presenter during that show, Sam explained why he will never forget the problems he faced when growing up. His father left home and made everybody believe he was dead. This made their life unbearable, they were small-scale farmers. When his mother could not take it anymore, she decided to get married to another man.
Sam paused taking a breath before counting to the next part of the story. Sam wa Ukweli said that there is nothing that can hurt him more than when he dropped his brother causing his death due the fall. During that incident, Sam said his mother was at the farm. She had left the kid with Sam who was looking after him.
It was lunchtime and Sam was walking out of the house holding the kid and porridge. Accidentally Sam stumbled, after the fall the kid cried a lot. That night they took the kid to hospital but they didn't get any help. They opted for traditional healers but the kid died moments after they left the hospital.
After the death of the boy, his stepfather chased them away claiming that he had killed his son.
