Speaker Ekwe Ethuro directed the Standing Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights chaired by Busia senator Amos Wako, to invite members of the public, human rights lobby groups, and other stakeholders to air their views and table a report in the Senate on January 4, 2017.

This is the same day the Opposition Cord, said it would hold countrywide mass protests against the laws. They want it suspended.

Cord claims Jubilee intends to use the Amendments to manipulate elections in August 2017.
