With the August poll barely six months away, the country's political space is slowly becoming a bee-hive of activity with top politicians positioning themselves for various elective seats.
However, Siaya Senator James Orengo is playing his cards close to his chest as he has remained tight-lipped on which seat he will go for.
Orengo who is Raila Odinga's confidante in the Kenyan political arena is not new to Kenyan politics having first come to parliament in 1980.
But it is his silence on his next political move that has left his would-be competitors guessing.
Initially, it was rumoured that the career politician will challenge Cornel Rasanga for the Siaya Governor seat. However, Orengo has never confirmed nor denied the reports.
The Senator who has kept off local Nyanza politics for a while now has been a key legal mind for the opposition NASA-Cord coalition of late, representing them in key legal battles against the IEBC.
He has also of late stated that his main aim, for now, is to help consolidate votes from the region to see Raila win the August poll.
Orengo who hails from Ugenya is one of the most popular political figures in Luo Nyanza region with many political pundits arguing that his entry into the gubernatorial race will throw Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo into the spin as the race to unseat the unpopular Rasanga hots up.
