Raila Odinga was determined to evade police arrest hours to the controversial swearing-in, reports the Standard.

Although police restrained from disrupting the event as earlier thought, Raila is said to have been privy to plans to detain him before Uhuru Park event.

"Raila did not sleep in his house at Karen. He was concerned that police could invade and detail him before the ceremony," said a NASA insider.

A charged Raila arrived at the venue in absence of his co-principals, who would later claim they were put under house arrest.

And to further confuse the police, the source adds, Raila gave his co-principals a Nigerian phone number in which they would communicate.

"He produced a Nigerian number to his counterparts which they could used to reach him. He only talked with Kalonzo before the phone going answered."

While the police restrained themselves from disrupting the event, several individuals including lawyer Miguna Miguna have since been arrested.
