Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is set to deploy 1,000 traffic marshals to govern traffic in the city.
This is in a bid to implement the recent laws banning matatus from the CBD.
"In the spirit of inclusion and participation, my administration will be employing over 1,000 Traffic Marshalls in the next few months," the governor said on his Facebook account.
He also said that the officers will be drawn from the current crew managing matatu the terminus across the city.
"This is primarily to ensure self-regulation within the industry, while guaranteeing minimal economic displacement for them," he said.
The marshals will also be uniformed and trained so as to see a smooth flow of vehicles.
"Under this new framework, it will be easy to identify those who fail to comply with the new regulations," he said.
