[Photo: Thika Today]They say that you should not be angry with the rain because it simply does not know how to fall upwards. While this is true, a section of Thika residents especially those living in low-lying areas of the town just wish it could rain upwards. From market traders, construction workers, tenants to hawkers all just wish the rain could take a break."I am a vegetable seller at Madaraka market and I can tell you that since this rain started, I have known no peace. I have had to contend with heavy losses as the market has turned to a pool of water," Maina Mukuha said on Saturday.John Warui, a construction worker says his construction work is becoming difficult by day as the heavy downpour ranges on."Our work at the construction sites is becoming unbearable. Sometimes we have to take off when the rains are too much which means there are no wages for those days. I just wish that the rain could stop because we need money for the festive season," Warui, a resident of Kiganjo says. For Elias Wambua, a tenant at Athena estate, the rains have brought more harm than good."On Friday night we spent more time removing water from our houses than sleeping. This rain is a menace," he said on Saturday. The weatherman recently predicted that Kiambu County will continue to experience heavy downpours especially in the afternoons at least in the next 7 days.
