The lead researcher Eric Odada had said that the amount will help the Kibera residents to afford decent houses and save the lives of the residents living near the rivers.

“This will help save the lives of thousands of people living close to rivers in informal settlements as they are more vulnerable to the impacts of climate change,” said Eric as quoted by the Standard media.

Unfortunately, the government did not listen to the reports and now one month down the line with the floods all over which is a risk of contracting water-borne diseases.

The residents are still living is in fear of being carried away by the floods from Ngong River which runs through the slum carrying with it all sorts of wastes.

The only step once made by the government was the Kibera housing project that went into a limbo after the first phase.

Governor Mike Sonko, on the other hand, is busy beautifying the city and decongesting the CBD but he has failed to beautify the life of the Kibera residents.
