Nightclubs are cool places to spend the evening. After a hard day’s work, you need to visit a club and relax your mind. You might want to have your favorite drink while watching your football team play. You might also do with some soothing music. However, things do not always go as planned. Not all nightclubs are safe. Sometimes you find the music too loud and the drink tasteless. The worst part is getting robbed. It leaves you feeling empty and helpless. Here are a few tips on how not to get robbed while in a nightclub.
Company
First, do not go drinking alone. Call your buddy to keep you company. You can also tag along with a female friend. Whoever you choose, the idea is to have some company. The person you are with will act as your security and vice versa. It is therefore hard for you or your friend to be robbed or drugged. Your buddy will watch over your drinks while you visit the washrooms. Having a friend around will also help you when you drink too much and pass out.
Do not be “loud-mouthed”
Some people invite robbers to come and rob them. Yes, it sounds funny but that is what people with loud mouth do. They brag and announce to everyone how rich they are. They toast to everyone and even offer to buy rounds to a couple of strangers. While being generous is not a bad thing, showing off is. After announcing to everybody how much money you have, is it any wonder that some bad-intentioned people will follow you outside the club and twist your neck?
No trust
Do not trust strangers. It is good to socialize and make new friends. But keep your trust to yourself. At least during the initial acquainting period. Some men have the habit of trusting women they meet in the club and vice versa. This easily given trust will be the death of you. Do not leave your valuables to someone you just met in a nightclub.
Taxi
Most people spend all their money till they end up lacking money for a taxi. They are therefore forced to walk all the way to the bus stage to take a matatu home. Before you commence on this walk, gauge the distance between the club and the bus stage. If it is long, do not risk taking the walk. You are likely to end up meeting thugs along the way. Or better still, do not drink all your money in the club. Spare some for a taxi. It is far much safer to ride in a taxi than in a matatu at 3.30 am in the morning. It is also important you get your taxi man. Someone you trust.
