When I was growing up, the word out was that you go to school, excel in exams and come out here to the job of your dreams.

Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

But reality seems to differ from this notion since many graduates are still unemployed out here not because they lack the skill but because that's how our society is - those without the skill get the job and acquire the skill while at the job.

How many form four leavers do you know that never made it to college but are managing their own businesses commonly known as hustles out here?

I know some. In fact others never made it to even high school.

So how should our youth stop looking and starting creating their own jobs?

1.Start looking for opportunities

How many times do you think of starting a certain business (hustle) only to find out that your next door neighbour is making a kill from it and you have no chance competing with them?

Many Kenyan students rely on dropping off Cv's at places with 'decent' jobs according to them only to keep on writing more Cv's, tarmacking, and dropping them at the next 'big' company.

How about not looking for that so 'decent' job of your dream and create something that lacks around you-something your society doesn't have in plenty if I must say. Kind of solving a problem.

2.Stop Excusing yourself

How do you expect to be your own boss one day when all you do on other's jobs is excuse yourself?

"Kwani kampuni ni yangu?" is a common word among my peers who work at different companies.Just because the company is not yours doesn't give you the right not to give it your all.

Charity begins at home and once you can give others' businesses 100%, you won't have a problem giving yours 200%.

3.Start as early as now

If you did not start it yesterday, then start it now, not tomorrow because it never comes. Stop saying that you need to save enough first inorder to start. Enough is never enough.
