Omena is one of the meal that many people find difficult to prepare.

Most people shy away from delicacy due to an irritating smell that it produces if prepared wrongly. 

To cook omena without the irritating smell, here are steps to follow:

1.Remove dirt and other unwanted particles from the omena before cooking it. 

2.Sock the omena in a bowl of boiled water either twice or thrice to remove the bitter taste and odor.

3.Put the omena in a source pan, dry then it over a low heat point until it dries completely.

4.Prepare a tomato puree by dipping them in hot water then peel them or use a blender to make a nice paste. 

5.Add some cooking oil on your pan or sufuria and let it heat for up to three minutes. 

6.Put your omena in the pan or sufuria and let it heat till it turns golden brown. Remember to use a  low heat fire point at this stage. 

7.Add your onions and garlic if you have them, then cook for 5 minutes while stirring.

8.Add the tomato puree while still stirring to form a thick paste. Add salt and “hoho” plus any other spice you have.

9.After 2 minutes, add a little amount of water depending with the amount of omena you are cooking.

10.Reduce your heat point then allow the omena to cook for 3 minutes and it will be ready.
