When one loses someone or something very precious to you, the grief can be profound. Pain, sad memories and a number of unanswered questions can haunt you. Despite having this emotional reaction, one needs to take heart though there is no way to grieve without pain, there are healthy ways to grieve which allow you to move forward.

Face the loss. After a serious loss, one might end up doing irrational things such as alcohol abuse, oversleeping and Internet overuse so as to dull the pain. You will never heal until you fully confront the loss. Trying to avoid it will only make matters worse. Allow yourself to cry or grieve in another way that feels natural.

Let your pain out. Allow the tears flow. Never be afraid to cry, even its something you usually don't do. One is to know that there's no right or wrong way to feel pain or show it. Recognizing the pain and trying to work through it is what is important.

Share your feelings with others. It is healthy to seek out people who are willing to take care of you when you're suffering. Gather the strength to talk to someone you trust. Its a form of allowing yourself to start dumping out some pain you're experiencing.

Distance yourself from people who aren't compassionate. Not every person you talk to while you're grieving will be helpful to you. Some will pretend to be listening to you but in real sense they aren't. Avoid them in order for you to through it regardless of how you're feeling.

Harbor no regrets. After the loss a loved one may feel guilty. You might be preoccupied by thoughts of various questions you feel should have been asked. Don't allow yourself to be consumed by the current sense of guilt. One thing you should keep it in mind is that you can't change the past by mulling over it again and again. Instead, strive to focus on what you can do in the present state.
