Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) on Wednesday January 18 announced some good news to all 2017 candidates, parents and teachers.
KUCCPS on Wednesday stated that the new cut off point for last year’s candidates to join local varsities will be pegged at C+ grade of 46 points, thus signaling the onset of revision of courses for applicants.
The Placement Service is going live on Wednesday January 24, 2018 to allow applicants to revise their choices from 12 am to Thursday, February 14, 2018 at 12 am.
How does it happen then?
Phase 1: Accessing the KUCCPS placement portal
Step 1: Access the KUCCPS application portal by clicking the link http://kuccps.net/
Step 2: Navigate to the student placement portal using this link http://students-new.kuccps.net/
Step 3: Once it loads the Student’s Login window, fill in your details; that is, your KCSE Index Number and KCSE year. Remember to use your Birth Certificate Number or KCPE Index Number (as used in KCSE Exam Registration) as your initial password. If you have forgotten your login password enter your KCSE Index Number and click “send/ request password reset token to registered email”.
Note: Ensure you have you have cash in your MPESA account to facilitate the application. Shs1000 is required at first revision. However, for a candidate who did not apply in school will pay Shs1500 during your First Revision. Payment will be done via the KUCCPS MPESA utility account.
Now, I trust you have successfully completed the first phase. We move on to the Course Application Portal.
Phase 2: Course Application Portal
On the default application portal home page that loads, we have two tables at hand. Use the first table to capture the applicant details, then on the second table consider the applicants cluster points in each cluster.
Step 1: Feed the module with required Applicant details. Note that the following details are required must be available:
i.Postal Address and its corresponding Code
ii.Country Of Birth
iii.Primary Mobile No
iv.Primary Email address ( Gmail, Yahoo or TLD emails)
v.Mpesa Transaction Id
vi.County Code
vii.City and;
viii.Your alternative E-mail address
Step 2: Note your weighted cluster points.
Step 3: Click on the link titled Course/Programmes to view a list of 2018/2019 Programmes and (or) Course Grouping.
Step 4: Identify your preferred course grouping and click the link to view a list of courses in the given group.
Step 5: Choose your preferred course. Then, click the link to view the course cluster details, applicant cluster performance, list of similar programmes and where the courses are offered.
Step 6: Compare your cluster performance with the required cut off point. The 2018 cut off points for degree and diploma programmes will be determined by the available capacities of the degree and diploma courses respectively.
Step 7: Taking into account your weighted cluster points for the 24 clusters, and the courses of your interest, note down correctly the programme codes for your final choices.
Step 8: Repeat Step 1- Step 8 of this phase to choose another course.
Phase 3: Course application and revision
Step 1: Ensure you have paid the required fee for this process. If not yet, kindly follow these quick steps:
i.Go to your M-PESA toolkit on your mobile device
ii.Go to Lipa na MPESA (the Paybill option)
iii.Key in KUCCPS business mumber 820201
iv.Enter your exam year (MUST be four digit, for instance 2017)
v.Enter your 11 digits index number as your account
vi.Enter the amount
vii.Key in your M-PESA secret PIN and
viii. Click on Send
Confirm that you have two confirmation messages for the transaction. One SMS from M-PESA and another one from KUCCPS. If you have the KUCCPS confirmation message, proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Using the link titled “Application/Revision” complete your application or revision by entering the Programme codes for the revised or new application programme choices that you recorded in step 7 (Part 2) and save. Then? Enter your M-PESA payment Transaction ID and apply.
The choices you have made will be displayed if you have completed the form without errors. If you find errors highlighted in red, make amendments and save again.
