Verbally ask for forgiveness. [Photo/masterfile.com] Flaws are a part of every human. We make mistakes. Sometimes we let people down in seriously painful ways that we do not know how they could ever forgive us. We can betray others at times. However, we can be willing to do anything to make it up to them.
First forgive yourself. I know it can be really hard but you need to first find yourself worthy to forgive yourself so you can ask it of another. The more you beat yourself up, the harder it gets to move on from your mistake. Accept your shortcomings and let go. Verbally ask for forgiveness. Do not assume that the other person knows you are sorry. Actually say the words 'I am sorry.' Do not let pride get in the way of you getting forgiveness. Say those words as deeply as you fell them. 'I am sorry. Please forgive me. I regret my actions.' What are words without actions? Accompany your sorry with actions or it might just be empty words to those you have wronged. Let your gestures show that you accept your wrongdoing. One great idea is to buy a gift to try to quell the other's anger. A more satisfying form of action is actually rectifying the said mistakes. This is the most real expression of sorry. Make practical changes to stay away from the wrongdoing and affirm that what you did was just a human frailty and not who you are or want to be. Most importantly, don't let your mistakes shape or define who you are.
