Abagusii is one of the many tribes in the Bantu community. They dominate the Kisii and Nyamira Counties and they have various behaviors that typically describes who they are:
Their anger tempers
As obvious, they are known to be hot tempered in everything that makes them them angry. They will react furiously no matter how minute the issue is. Moreover, they are known of shouting which creates attention regardless of if it is on phone or not. Their anger is well known to drive them into massive damages.
Love for sugarcane and matoke
You are not a real Abagusii if you don't have matoke in all your meals and them have a sugarcane as a dessert. Matoke is this common recipe that can used in almost all meals. From breakfast to githeri to rice and crisps. Sugarcane can be eaten anywhere, even when in the office!
Use 'gaki' in all sentences
This is where you will automatically know how typical a man is. The term ghaki, which used as an exclamation depending on the pronunciation, is used in all the sentences; including English and Swahili sentences. It has become a non avoid word. "Ghaki ghaki i was rained on heavily..." you will hear them.
It is never enough untill you visit Nairobi and all you will notice in common is that the Abagusii community loves the key cutting job, caretaker job and the sugarcane hawking.
These jobs have largely reserved for them.
