To learn effectively and progress through school, a child needs good study habits. Unless helped and guided by their parents or guardians, kids will never know the need to learn or do assignments. It is therefore the mandate of parents to help their kids in developing good study habits at school and even at home. Here are simple skills to help your kids develop good study habits:
Designate a space at home for your child to study
Depending on your circumstances, find a good strategic place to set a desk for your kids study. The place should be away from distractions such as television, video games and other family activities. Kids will learn the need for studying at home as well as school.
Help your child organize his work area and his assignments
Children often struggle with organization, which can create a negative learning experience. First, help your kid ensure he/she has all the material they need for their assignment or study. Then help them organize their assignments in order. You can provide them with a note book to note all the assignments given to them on a particular day.
Help your kids develop a study routine
Create a study routine that your child will follow every day. A routine will help your kid make a habit studying. Depending on your kids other co-curriculum activities, help them develop a good study routine that will not interfere with other things he/she is involved in.
Be a role model
Set a positive example of effective work habits for your child, by timely competing your office work, or school work. Also set a schedule in your home, so that your kid will know things should be done accordingly. Allow your youngster to see you prioritizing work to get it done.
