1. Finding the right mate. My problem with many singles is the failure to realise that success in marriage does not come merely through finding the right mate. The search for the right partner should not be something one rushes into. There are certain things you should cultivate in yourself before searching for love.

2. Loving for the right reasons. It is easier to confess love for someone than it is to carry out the responsibilities that accompany that confession. In relationships, we judge the rightness of person because we feel good about ourselves, safe, and fulfilled when with them. Founding your relationship on solid ground means that you are not selfish in our choice of partner. It means that we reasoned through all the options of the good and bad of that person and were convicted that the reasons that move us towards having them as our partner were not trivial or based on temporal exploits.

3. Committing to a set of values. The growth of a relationship is directly proportional to the values we seek to embrace. As I said earlier, growing and thriving relationships are based on a set of common values.Such a value system will include the sum total of a person’s ideas, beliefs and or opinion you hold about life. In order to build strong environment that will support the relationship, a couple needs to embrace the set of values  they have in common—  in particular, spiritual and moral values must be as similar as possible.
