Ensuring you live an active lifestyle is key to physical and mental health. An active lifestyle is key to avoiding conditions such as heart disease and diabetes.
You do not have to be the most active individual but it is important that you remain active and give your heart a good cardio work out.
Here is a list of tips you can follow to help you get active and remain active.
Take it slow - If you have spent many years on "the sideline" don't be in too much of a rush. Start with five to 10 minute exercises and slowly increase.
Take 30 - It is important that you do some form of physical exercise for at least 30 minutes a day. Break them down into 10 minute excercises if you have to.
Work the muscles - As important as aerobic exercise is, you should also include some form of resistance or weight training. This will strengthen your muscles and also increase balance and coordination.
Stretch - Always remember to stretch after working out. This will improve flexibilty and reduce the risk of injury. Stretching also improves circulation through the body.
