Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It’s the transition that’s troublesome. Truth be told, even those who are absolutely convinced that they’re going to heaven don’t want to die to get there. Denying death doesn’t change its reality. Denying transition just compromises your ability to shift your season fast enough.

Responsibility calls us to manage life’s phases and transitions no matter how painful, unpleasant or inconveniencing. Not changing address and your contacts after impregnating a girl. But taking care of the baby and the mother. Not running away from your wife because a newborn is screaming all night and disturbing your sleep. But being the first to calm and soothe the baby to sleep.

Not embracing suicidal tendencies because a doctor told you to put your house in order. There could be a totally different professional opinion or alternative curative methods. Not switching off your phone so that your credit manager can’t reach you on account of a non-performing loan. But proposing your repayment plan.

Not sinking into depression because of organizational restructuring that might show you the door. But facing such likelihood with resilience coupled with exploring options remembering you are not the first to be fired.

Transitions shake our previous norms. Transitions introduce new realities. We tend to gravitate towards what is familiar. Acclimatizing to new surroundings can be disorienting. Getting used to being referred or identified with your new marital status sounds strange at the initial stages. A new job or role at work like promotion can disorient how you relate with your peers.

Cowards bleat about economic hardships, government regime change that locked them out of lucrative tenders, new corporate leaders who are making precarious decisions that are not in their favor and such like hogwash.
