Drink plenty of water
As mentioned earlier, not drinking enough water is among the causing factors of kidney stones. If you need to prevent the malady, start drinking water. In fact, science recommends to drink eight glasses of water everyday. Moreover, water improves kidney functions of eliminating wastes through urinating.
Eat more calcium-rich foods
Calcium deficiencies can lead to kidney stones. Taking calcium supplements with a meal may bar kidney stones. Calcium-rich foods to consider include low-fat milk, low-fat cheese, and low-fat yogurt.
Eat less animal protein
Foods rich in animal proteins are acid in nature and may increase urine acid. It is reported that high urine acid may escalate both uric acid and calcium oxalate kidney stones. Avoid excessive consumption of poultry, fish, pork and beef
Eat less sodium
Excess salt intake is associated with a number of maladies including stomach cancers, cardiovascular diseases and kidney stones. Excess salt in the urine bars absorption of calcium which in turn leads to kidney stones. Avoid excessive consumption of canned foods.
