President Uhuru Kenyatta has been urged to include some Opposition leaders in his eagerly-awaited Cabinet line-up.
According to Cheregany MP Joshua Kutuny, Uhuru will make a major move towards national healing if he appoints NASA politicians to his new administration.
"I see no problem with the President tapping into the expertise of some leaders from the Opposition by bringing them into his inner team," he wrote in an article published by The Standard.
Kutuny, who was Uhuru's adviser on political affairs in his first term, said politicians 'poached' from the Opposition after 2013 polls, helped Jubilee deliver on its mandate.
He cited Water CS Eugene Wamalwa, Dan Kazungu (Mining) and former Interior CS the late Joseph Nkaissery as some of the leaders appointed from the Opposition who have assisted the President to shape his legacy.
"It is not impossible- it happened in 2013 and can still work in 2017. If anything, it will be akin to killing two birds with one stone, as, apart from making use of the knowledge, skills and experience of the individuals from the other side of the political divide, such a move would also result in an all-inclusive government," the MP noted.
Kutuny further said Uhuru should not only focus on forming an all-inclusive government, but also consider appointing people who will help him push the Jubilee agenda.
"But even if the President decides to reach out to the Opposition by appointing their members to Government positions, qualifications, experience and capacity to deliver, should be key determining factors," the legislator added.
