Mvita MP Abudulswamad Nassir says the decision by President Uhuru Kenyatta to ban peaceful demonstrations will only worsen the situation and eventually crumble his regime.
To restrain demonstrators from access strategic locations within Kisumu, Nairobi and Mombasa, acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i banned demonstrations within CBD of the three cities.
And barely a day to NASA’s Mombasa rally, Nassir says the government orders will charge Kenyans and eventually leads to toppling of his government.
“The constitution gives us powers to demonstrate and that is a significant right which cannot be deprived by anyone.
“Uhuru is calling for a revolution which will eventually lead to change of social order. We are ready to go that route if that is what he wants,” he said.
To justify his predictions, Nassir gave an analogy of the fall of Roman Empire, one of the most organized kingdoms in 16th century.
He said Mombasa people will make a major declaration of Sunday when opposition leaders convene at Mama Ng’ina Drive for a public rally.
With only two weeks to elections, the opposition team lead by Raila Odinga has since withdrawn from the race, citing insincerity by electoral body IEBC.
