Washington DC ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec has been linked to last minute boycotting of NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka to Raila Odinga's swearing-in.
At Uhuru Park, a lonely Raila took oath as People's President in absence of co-principals, with Kalonzo claiming they were under house arrest.
"We were put under house arrest by the police and that made it impossible for us to attend," said Kalonzo in an audio.
But a high ranking NASA official who spoke in confidence now says both Kalonzo, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula were summoned by US ambassador hours to the event.
According to him, he says, the three were persuaded to snub Raila as a way of reducing the intensity of the event.
"They will always try to come up with excuses but the truth is, Godec convinced them to boycott the event. We are aware of a meeting at his residence hours to swearing-in."
In the audio, Kalonzo warned NASA supporters against 'spreading propaganda' which he said would sabotage the coalition's mission.
Already, the government has launched investigations to the controversial oath, with Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang being the first to be arrested.
