Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has handed over a milk cooler with a capacity of 3,000 litres and a power backup panel to Kiambaa Dairy.
Waititu said that the county government is commited towards improving dairy farming in the county through such support programmes.
"My government is very committed to supporting dairy farming by providing them with the required machinery that shall enable them to package and pasteurize their milk," said Waititu.
He added: "We will be buying from all dairy farmers societies within the county once our school feeding program commences in the upcoming school term."
Waititu also said that the county government will improve the road networks across the county for better delivery of milk.
He said the process of upgrading Kiambaa Dairy road will start immediately.
“As a way of supporting the dairy industry, my government will start a county factory where farmers will be buying animal feeds at subsidized price. This will guarantee farmers quality dairy feeds," he said.
The governor stated that the introduction of free Artificial Insemination by the county government will also benefit dairy farmers greatly.
Waititu was accompanied by Tigoni MCAJoel Munyua, Karuri MCA Peter Wainaina Ndenderu MCA Solomon Kinuthia among others.
