Details have emerged in regards to events leading to the swearing-in of NASA leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday at Uhuru Park.
According to te Standard, Raila held a meeting with NASA principals Musalia Mudavadi and Mose Wetangula at the DusitD2 hotel in Nairobi.
It is alleged that Wetangula and Mudavadi remained non-commital regarding the event.
The paper reports that a few minutes after noon, Mudavadi and Wetang’ula excused themselves and left.
They promised to join the NASA luminaries and drive together to Uhuru Park, something that never happened.
“What happened later was agonising, the trio were not picking calls from Raila and lieutenants at DusitD2,” said a source quoted by the Standard.
It is believed that Wetang’ula picked Raila’s call, he claimed to be at Nairobi Club and was to meet him at Serena Hotel before they went to Uhuru Park.
It is believed that Raila was encouraged by Mombasa governor Hassan Joho, Siaya Senator James Orengo, and billionaire Jimmy Wanjingi to attend the swearing-in.
Within 27 minutes of his arrival, Raila had been sworn-in.
Later Kalonzo, Wetangula and Mudavadi sent a statement affirming there support for NASA.
