The political narrative peddled by the opposition of Kikuyu - Kalenjin ended when Raila Odinga renounced his people's president position and pledged to support President Kenyatta in achieving the 4 point agenda as well as the unity for the nation.
The Odinga led team of politicians are now fighting for inclusivity in the government, others are realigning themselves towards Deputy President William Ruto.
Raila once said Ruto needs him comes 2022 and his actions last week confirms that he is positioning himself for Ruto Tosha slogan. Before 2013 election, the President and his deputy formed a coalition which aimed at bringing the two communities together.
Now that the two are together through actions and commitment, the two leaders need other Kenyans to come together and that's why Raila made the perfect decision considering that he is retiring soon.
I am sure the next deputy president after Ruto will be from another tribe and not the Kikuyu nation, it's not a betrayal at all but the need to move on with the unity agenda set out by the Uhuru and Odinga. It's now upon Kalonzo, Musalia, and Wetangula to stop focusing on 2022 and work with the current government that now has a majority support from all Kenyans.
If they insist on going on their own then they risk losing their political clout as well as trust from other leaders from other regions. The coastal leaders who used to talk of disintegration are now in support of the same government and they are hoping for many development tours by the president or his deputy.
I know the support base of the three principals won't want to be associated with a toothless opposition anymore, this is the perfect opportunity for them to rebuild their political future.
