The controversial tenure of the Director of Criminal Investigations Ndegwa Muhoro came to an end after president Uhuru Kenyatta replaced him with Mr. George Kiniti in an acting capacity.Mr. Muhoro came to office in 2010 after being appointed by President Mwai Kibaki during the grand coalition government. He replaced Samuel Gatiba Karanja who died suddenly at his home. The investigative body was known then as the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).Muhoro has left at a time when the DCI is reeling from a huge public confidence crisis.Under his tenure, the country witnessed very shocking murders of public figures; murders which remain unresolved. He has also left at a time when police officers have been accused of engaging in the murder of some public figures. It would be interesting to read the judgment of history on his stint at the DCI.
