Writing for Hivisasa has been a blessing for me for the last five years I have been actively and passionately submitting articles.

I was introduced to Hivisasa by a friend in October 2012 while studying Diploma in Mass Communication at Multi-Media University of Kenya (MMU).

On that day, I had been denied chance to write the end of semester examaintion because I had not cleared my school fees.

I sat outside the Administration block, frustrated and cursing the day I was born in a humble or rather poor family.

A close colleague then appeared from nowhere, looked at me and felt pity.

He, however, told me on how he was whooping Sh6, 000 per week by writing for Hivisasa.

I was interested and immediately wrote my first business article which was published within 30 minutes.

I got excited and started submitting articles on daily basis and by the end of every week I would pocket a cool Sh7,000.

With this kind of money I was not used to getting, my life took a complete turn, something I dearly thank God for.

Courtesy of the savings I was making from Hivisasa, I enrolled for a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism at St Paul’s University in 2013.

I funded the four year Degree program with the money I was getting through submission of articles to Hivisasa.

In October 2016, I graduated and enrolled for Master’s Degree in Communication studies which I am again funding through writing.

Apart from funding my education, Hivisasa has sharpened my writing skills and created a platform for interaction with other writers and editors.

I have also been able to interact with various top leaders in the course of assignments across the country.

However, things have not been rosy, it has taken hard work and discipline to be among the top Hivisasa writers.

I take everything positively including the article rejections and always rectify on the mistakes in my subsequent submissions.

I hope to grow my journalism career and venture into the digital media and help in building a knowledgeable and empowered society.

My advice to fresh writers is that writing pays but needs a lot of discipline, hard work and dedication.

Writers should positively learn from the simple mistakes and not get demoralized when articles are rejected.

Together as writers we can use the power of the pen and paper to transform and create a better society.

Thank you Hivisasa for empowering and transforming my career.
