The politician, Charles Kamuren was expected to fly the independent party's flag in the coming by-election in Baringo South following the death of Grace Kipchoim last month.

Speaking at Marigat grounds in Baringo County during a function attended by Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday, Kamuren hailed the Jubilee government for it is the transformational agenda and its commitment in changing the lives of Kenyans regardless of their political affiliation.

“I am happy that I am declaring here today that I have ditched KANU for Jubilee with all my supporters. We have realized that Jubilee Party is committed to peace and stability of all Kenyans including this region,” said Kamurem.

He also acclaimed the Deputy President William Ruto for his incessant dedication towards fostering peace and unity in the country.

“It is impressive that the Deputy President has been more than committed to peaceful coexistence among all communities living along the Kerio Valley,” he added.

The defection of the politician comes at a time when the DP Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi are embroiled in fierce competition to win the large voting bloc of the Rift Valley region.
