Kenyan human rights activist, John Waweru is reported to have been shot dead.
Waweru was shot dead at Zimmerman estate. Japheth Koome, the Nairobi police boss confirmed the incident.
The breaking news has been criticised by the public terming the act as a means to silence the truth. Many Kenyans took on social media to express their emotions concerning the incident.
Nyarboro Narubo questioned why such a person would be killed yet thieves who steal public property walk freely.
‘‘There we go again, silencing the truth tellers,’’ said Nyarboro.
Brian Hareri from Kibera condemned the act saying the police should investigate the matter and bring the culprits to account. He praised Waweru of being a mouthpiece of the society and being a helper to the low class people in society.
‘‘It is quite unfortunate. He has been a human rights defender. He was a brave and courageous man. They knew you he not be tamed so killing him was their only solution,’’ he said.
