The Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) has faulted President Uhuru Kenyatta for 'using' public resources to campaign for his re-election.

KNCHR said Uhuru’s move to dish out goodies, just few days to the general election was violating the law.

Recently, the president gave out millions of shillings to compensate the Integrated Internally Displaced Person in Nyamira and Kisii counties.

According to KNCHR chairperson, Kagwiria Mbogori, the Jubilee administration is seeking to amend sections of the Elections Offences Acts which bars government from advertising its successes during an electioneering period.

“Those actions of the government amounts to abuse of office and thus Kenyans must call for transparency and accountability of the public officers who unlawfully disregard legal provisions aimed at safeguarding free and fair elections,” said Mbogori in a statement.
