The Shanzu Law Court on Tuesday freed a couple accused of human trafficking on a Sh50, 000 bond. The couple, Zubair Deen, Shama Deen and their daughter Zeba Deen had been arrested for allegedly plotting to traffic 10 women found in their club in Nyali.Seven Nepalese and three Indian women were among the victims arrested at the club. The Nepalese women are still in police custody while the Indians were freed after they recorded a statement following lobbying by the Indian High Commissioner to Kenya. The family, which owns, Sham House and bar, has been put on the spot for allegedly colluding with prominent business persons from different parts of the world to conduct the illegal business. In her ruling, Shanzu senior principal Magistrate Dian Mochache struck out an application seeking to have the couple detained for more days pending investigations into the matter. The prosecution had told the court not to release the court, arguing that they will interfere with the investigations. Through their Lawyer Cliff Ombeta, the suspects told the court that a rival businessman, who has connections with the security agents, was behind their woes.Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
